Mail for developers and CTOs
The Gmail API for your app, with the plumbing already done
Your Google app, our hosted connect page and token handling, one REST API on top.
Free tier on every product. No card.
Using the Gmail API directly means OAuth with PKCE, refresh tokens that expire, watching mailboxes for new mail and turning Google’s format into something your app can use. SyncYak Mail does that part. You register your own Google OAuth app once, users connect their Gmail on SyncYak’s hosted page, and you read and send through one REST API in the Nylas v3 format, with webhooks for new mail.
The same API covers Microsoft 365, Yahoo and any IMAP mailbox, so supporting Outlook users later is not a second project.
How it works
Use the Gmail API through SyncYak in three steps
Register your apps
Create a Mail application and paste your Google and Microsoft OAuth client IDs and secrets, with the callback URI SyncYak shows.
Send users to the connect page
Link to /v3/connect/auth with your client ID and redirect URI. Users approve access; you get a code to exchange for a grant.
Read, send and listen
Call the /v3 API with the grant id and receive webhooks for new mail, replies, bounces, opens and clicks.
Gmail API send email, from the user’s own address
POST /v3/grants/{grant_id}/messages/send sends from the connected Gmail address, with open and click tracking from Hobby. Messages and drafts can be listed and read with the same grant.
- Default scopes: gmail.readonly, gmail.send, userinfo.email, openid
- gmail.modify is not requested
- Google’s verification of your app still applies
A Gmail API webhook for every new message
message.created posts to your endpoint when new mail arrives, signed with HMAC-SHA256 in X-Nylas-Signature. The sync cursor is set the moment a mailbox connects, so a reply that arrives before the first poll is not missed, and history is never imported.
Use cases
What apps build with Gmail access
Two-way email in a CRM
Show conversations and send replies from the user’s address.
Lead response
Detect replies from leads and update the pipeline.
Transactional sends
Send on behalf of a user without SMTP credentials.
What you get with Mail
Mail is a mailbox API that speaks the Nylas v3 format. You register your own Google, Microsoft and Yahoo OAuth apps once, send people to SyncYak’s hosted connect page, and get a grant per connected mailbox. IMAP and SMTP with an app password cover every other provider.
Free connects 3 mailboxes and sends 1,000 messages a month. Hobby is $12 a month for 10 mailboxes with open and click tracking; Pro is $49 for 50; Business is $199 for 250.
- Hosted connect page with provider detection, PKCE and single-use state
- Webhooks for message.created, replies, bounces, opens and clicks, signed with HMAC-SHA256
- POST /v3/grants/{grant_id}/messages/send sends from the user’s own address
- An existing Nylas v3 integration switches by changing the API host, client ID and secret
Frequently asked questions
Something else? Write to contact@syncyak.com and a person answers.
Do I need my own Google Cloud project?
Yes. You register your own OAuth app, so users see your name and you own the relationship with Google.
Does SyncYak store email?
Message data is kept for your plan’s retention window to serve the API and webhooks.
What about Outlook?
Add your Microsoft app to the same application, and the connect page offers both.
Is there a free plan for Mail?
Yes. Mail has a free tier with no card and no end date: 3 mailboxes, inbound webhooks, your own google and microsoft apps. Paid tiers start at $12 a month, and you can move up or down at any time.
Can I use the other SyncYak products on the same account?
Yes. Email parsing, the mailbox API, CRM sync, error tracking and tunnels share one login, one team, one API key system and one bill. Each product has its own tier, so you only pay more for the one that grows.
